iMATCH SL - SINGLE LENGTH IRONS
The iMatch SL Single Length Irons bring an exciting iron concept to the component golf world.
Single Length Irons, and the iMatch SL in particular, are designed to be built to the same length in the 4 iron through the Pitching Wedge. Why is this interesting? It allows the golfer to use the same swing, on the same plane, for all of his clubs.
The Single Length Iron concept is not new. They were manufactured commercially in the 1980s by Tommy Armour golf under the name EQL irons. These irons were very successful for a short time, however the pressures of high volume sales in the world of big business forced Tommy Armour to abandon the concept. Moe Norman was one of the staunch advocates of the single length iron concept, and Moe's phenominal ball striking is still admired by the best golfers in the world today. Moe's single plane swing - though not necessary to use single length irons - was perfectly fitted to the single length concept as well.
The iMatch SL irons have a large game improvement profile, combined with a deep cavity and progressive offset. Not only are these irons easy to hit, they deliver outstanding performance for golfers of many skill levels.
iMatch SL irons feature a weight cavity in the center of the head at the bottom and back of the cavity, where you can install optional 4g, 6g or 8g weights to change the swingweight of your irons. Without any additional weight, the 4 iron through Pitching Wedge are designed to be built to a standard 6 iron length of 37 1/2 inches. By adding weight to the head through the weight port, and in the hosel (offsetting the weight port weight and maintaining the proper clubhead CG), you can build these to 8 iron length or shorter if you wish!
The Sand Wedge is designed to be built to a standard length of 35 1/2 inches, as our testing showed it was very difficult to hit a 37 1/2" sand wedge consistently out of a greenside bunker.
Lofts are strengthened and loft gaps are larger than traditional irons to maintain a distance gap progression for the average golfer of 10 to 12 yards per club. Bounce is added to make these clubs easy to hit off any lie.
Cast from soft, 1020 stainless steel, these irons can be adjusted for both loft and lie up to 4 degrees without fear of breakage. If you adjust the lofts, be sure to be aware of the bounce angle so you don't create a "dig" sole in the process. |
